How to Sell on Multiple Marketplaces in Europe: A Practical Guide

Updated May 2026 · 9 min read

Expanding beyond Amazon to other European marketplaces — Kaufland, OTTO, Allegro, eBay DE — is one of the most effective ways to grow ecommerce revenue without increasing ad spend. But multichannel selling adds operational complexity fast. Without the right setup, you will spend more time managing listings and orders than you save in new revenue.

This guide walks through the practical steps to expand to multiple EU marketplaces: which ones to prioritise, what tools to set up first, and the mistakes that slow most sellers down.

Step 1 — Get your inventory management right first

The single most important thing to do before adding a new marketplace is to have reliable inventory management in place. Every marketplace you add multiplies the risk of overselling — selling something on Amazon that is also sold on Kaufland from the same stock.

If you are managing inventory in a spreadsheet or in Amazon Seller Central only, fix this first. You need a tool that syncs stock levels across all channels in near real-time. Veeqo (free) or Linnworks (paid) are the most practical options for EU sellers.

Before you add any new marketplace

Make sure your inventory is synced centrally. One oversell on Amazon or Kaufland can result in account warnings, negative feedback, and lost Buy Box — costing more than any new marketplace revenue.

Step 2 — Choose which marketplace to add first

Not all EU marketplaces are worth the same effort for every seller. Here is a practical prioritisation:

Kaufland.de

You already sell on Amazon DE. Kaufland has lower competition and strong German consumer trust. Native Linnworks and Channable connectors make integration straightforward.

eBay DE / UK

Good for used goods, collectibles, auto parts, and fashion. Lower competition than Amazon in many categories. Most integration tools have native eBay connectors.

OTTO

Invite-only marketplace with high average order values. Best for established brands with quality products. Requires an application process.

Allegro

Largest marketplace in Poland. High growth, lower competition from Western sellers. Good first move if you want to expand into CEE.

Step 3 — Set up a marketplace integration tool

Managing product listings manually on each marketplace is not sustainable beyond 2-3 channels. A marketplace integration tool (sometimes called a feed management tool) handles this automatically: you maintain your product data in one place, and the tool distributes and adapts it for each channel.

The two most practical options for EU sellers are Channable and plentymarkets. Channable is better for feed management and PPC automation. plentymarkets is better if you want a full ecommerce platform (including your own webshop) rather than just a feed tool.

For most sellers starting multichannel expansion, Channable is the faster, lower-cost path.

Step 4 — Centralise order management

Once you are receiving orders from multiple marketplaces, logging into each seller portal separately to process orders is a time drain. An order management system (OMS) or a combined IMS/OMS like Linnworks consolidates all orders into one queue.

For most sellers expanding from 1 to 3-4 channels, Linnworks handles both inventory and order management and is the most practical single-platform solution. For sellers who already have separate inventory management, ShipStation handles order centralisation and shipping at a lower price point.

Common mistakes to avoid

Mistake: Adding too many channels at once

Fix: Start with one new marketplace. Get the operations running smoothly before adding a second.

Mistake: Using the same listing content on every channel

Fix: Each marketplace has different content requirements and search algorithms. Adapt titles, bullet points, and categories per channel.

Mistake: Not accounting for different return policies

Fix: Kaufland, OTTO, and Amazon all have different return windows and processes. Make sure your OMS handles each correctly.

Mistake: Ignoring VAT obligations in new markets

Fix: Selling in Germany, Poland, or France triggers VAT registration requirements. Use a tool like Taxdoo or consult a tax advisor before you start.

The recommended stack for EU multichannel expansion

  • +Veeqo or Linnworks — inventory management and stock sync
  • +Channable — marketplace feed management and listing distribution
  • +Linnworks or ShipStation — order centralisation and shipping
  • +Taxdoo or Avalara — VAT compliance across EU markets
